Investing - Theory, News & General • Re: Looking back at your asset allocation throughout life, how happy are you now?

Through the influence of Bernstein's Intelligent Investor and Four Pillar of Investing ... in January 2003 I made my allocation decisions and implemented them.

In the intervening 21+ years all new money has gone into cash (like presently Vanguard VUSXX - Treasury Money Market Fund). Nothing has ever been taken out of those January 2003 (other than using one fund to do charitable contributions until the fund was depleted). All dividends were reinvested.

I've arrived at a 50 / 50 today.

I could have had far more if much of that new money had gone into equity like investments. But having so much in cash allowed me to never think of making any changes during all the various downturns since January 2003. No sleepless nights over my investments. I've had more sleepless, restless nights over far less consequential matters.

Through all of that I have enough.
