You can also delete a post before anyone else has posted but not after.

Once someone else has posted in that thread *after* your post, you can still delete the *contents* of your post, but the skeleton will remain (the fact that there was some content posted by you that no longer appears).
But if no one has posted after you, then you can "X" the entire post, which is "more" than just editing.
It will be like those home disaster rescue ads: "As though it never happened!"
