Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Re: Bank of America Premium Rewards Elite? (credit card)

in the context of this thread, we're also jumping through all of elite's hoops to present it's best value, for some as far is prepaying into united's travel bank. in a previous post, you stated that you do not like using portals. does this mean you're giving up the 20% bonus?

also, remember that just because you have a points card doesn't mean you have to transfer points. you can also just redeem them at 1cpp and treat it like a cashback card. most don't do that because they can transfer for 1.5cpp or more.
I am technically giving up the 20% bonus, but I have another airline card where with the status I have and the fact that I fly that airline virtually all the time, with the extra cash back multiplier and the miles multiplier it beats the 20%.

I do transfer points from my CSR to travel partners but some cards do not redeem 1:1 (example amex).

I really have no issues with people’s set ups, it just to me the incremental cost, or potential for a portal hassle, is not worth it to me. An example of this is the PRE v. the CCR for dining or travel. Its $175 delta a year, and that assumes you nail it, meaning not $1 over or under on the quarterly cap. Just not worth worrying about at my age. 2.625%/3.5% is good enough for me, and I do have 4-5% cards but they must have no hoops, caps, blah, blah etc.

And your other post is a good one about reminding people about the value of SUBs.
now i'm genuinely curious about your setup....

from this post, you have at least 3 premium cards...

if you're loyal to one airline, then pretty much all airfare will go to that card, and it will cover baggage fees, etc.

the elite's killer feature is simplicity. as you mention, you don't have to worry about anything and just put all the spending on the card. this implies the $300 credit is offset because you still travel enough on other airlines to use it up.

but most perplexing to me is that you also have a CSR. "i do transfer points from" seems to imply this is a keeper for you. but then....how are you earning any points here if all your spend is going on the airline/elite cards?
