The purchase ended up happening today, same as the date I scheduled. Of course, already with three days of data, the estimated Nov. 1 fixed rate is trending higher (1.5%). Sigh. You are probably fine with an order on April 26, but keep in mind that after you schedule an I Bond purchase, you can go into TreasuryDirect and delete that order before the purchase date, and then reschedule it. Go to "ManageDirect" and then click on "View/Delete a pending purchase/reinvestment" . Find the order and then delete it. Then create a new one for whatever date you like.
So I gather then that when scheduling an order with TD, what you're really scheduling is entering the request on that date, as if you logged in and did it yourself on that date. Because the purchase happens the next business day. Oh, well. My purchase should happen on Monday 4/29, which is fine, but I wish I had scheduled it for 4/25, instead of 4/26, so it would occur on 4/26.
