Mostly just curiosity. Are there--I assume there must be--Medicare Advantage plans with hearing aid coverage? If so, if you have one or who have shopped plans and know the details, what is actually covered? I'm guessing there are limits of some kind--e.g. they will pay up to $X, and offer mild discounts if you go to one of their partner hearing aid centers... that kind of thing... but I'd like to know. It seems to be difficult to get any hard details about Medicare Advantage plans except by exposing yourself to a telephone call with a sales person.
On any Medicare Advantage plans website you should be able to access the Evidence of Coverage document which will detail the Routine Hearing Benefits but in general the exams will be free and the copayment per ear for the hearing aids starting as low 100.00 for the basic hearing aid and go up from there at in network providers. Some carriers in some areas such as Aetna will pay up to 3000 towards the hearing aids with no copayment at their in network provider called Nations Hearing. To get an idea of what type of devices the MA plan of your choice covers you can go to their hearing aid provider website which should be noted in the Evidence of Coverage document and it will usually list 3 to 5 different hearing aid options. For example Aetna and many other carriers uses Nations Hearing and UHC uses UHC Hearing. If you need hearing aids you may want to get them this year because the ancillary benefits i.e. dental, vision, hearing etc, of MA plans in 2025 are expected to be reduced 25-50% due to the Inflation Reduction Act
