Reframe your line of thinking, take the annual increase from 2022 to this latest offer, now average it from 2016 to 2025, that’s the annual rent increase percentage. The landlord didn’t do you any favors not increasing the rent because now they are playing “catchup” with their costs of upkeep and earning a slight profit.Just saying there was no increase from 2016-2022.Given those points, isn't renewing your lease pretty much a slam dunk?I have been here since 2016 and we absolutely love living here. It is very safe, quiet, clean and maintenance is very fast and efficient...
We always got a little below market rate and still are.
If you did move, do you think Brother A would continue to kick in $500 a month? Let’s say he goes down to $300 a month instead of $500 to match Brother B - there goes your cost savings. I’m with Sandtrap here - the grass is not greener elsewhere. You might find cheaper rent but with that might come less responsive maintenance and things you never considered like bad neighbors.
