Funny to find this thread, was about to make one.
Last two UPS packages we received had items stolen from them with signs of damage and poorly retaped afterwards -- not even trying to hide it. Not a big deal in terms of the value but definitely annoying, especially if we do get items where we can't specify the shipper (like my incoming eyeglasses).
I tried calling UPS to report this and that was a real exercise in frustration.
So my takeaway is use pirateship and USPS - avoid UPS however you can.
