Seward:
- The quintessential Seward activity is a boat tour from Resurrection Bay into one of the fjords of Kenai Fjords National Park. These aren't cheap and I get the sense you may have had enough from your cruise, but it's worth considering since you have a full day.
- The SeaLife Center is a very nice aquarium. It's not huge, but you could hang out there for a while and maybe catch a demonstration. My wife and I were lucky enough to see the male sea lion working on skills with his keepers and it was great. (We are animal lovers, though.)
- You could perhaps hire a cab to take you to Lowell Point / Miller's Landing or the visitor center at Exit Glacier. I don't know how much you'd do at either place.
- Otherwise, Seward is very walkable between the harbor and SeaLife Center. Not sure about your transportation from the cruise ship terminal.
Girdwood:
- Ride the tram. Self-explanatory.
- The trailhead for (Lower) Winner Creek is on the grounds at Alyeska Resort. This is a well-maintained trail if anyone in your group is interested in hiking. To see the gorge is 5 miles round-trip, but even a short walk on the beginning of the trail could be worthwhile to experience the forest.
Anchorage:
Anchorage is better with a car. Without one, stay downtown. A few things to do downtown:
- The Alaska Public Lands Information Center has some good exhibits. If you need to kill some time (especially on a rainy day), they have short films which play throughout the day.
- A short walk on the coastal trail from Elderberry Park.
- Brunch at Snow City Cafe.
- Take a Trolley Tour.
- On a nice day, relax on Delaney Park Strip.
- Anchorage Museum.
- The 5th Avenue Mall is unremarkable, but ok for a rainy day and has a decent food court.
- With cab or rideshare transportation: Alaska Native Heritage Center, Alaska Zoo, UAA campus / library, Title Wave bookstore.
