Agree with nisiprius. Credit freezes with the big three. I regularly do different antivirus and malware scans that also never detect anything. I also never click on attachments or links that I'm not expecting, including those sent by friends, family, or contacts (their email accounts could have been hacked). Some family members continue to send links unannounced even though I've told them that I will never open such links without prior personal heads-up. Of course, this means that I miss out on viewing the latest cute cat videos
A good password manager. I've used Dashlane for many years. All my passwords are unique, randomly generated, and at least 16 characters
Also never answer questions or provide any info to calls you receive from security or fraud departments of institutions with which you have a relationship. Just call them back at the institution's main number - never call back to a number you're given by the phone caller.
