The basic idea is fine in a general way, but I would devote some time to learning about investing. A good start is here:

You should at least look at if not read thoroughly the entire Wiki and read a few of the books listed in there. Good investing will not be a quick and dirty thing.
I would take exception to "I don’t anticipate my expenses changing over the next 20 years." I don't know what magic universe you plan to live in where that happens. On the other hand you have lots of time to adjust to whatever it is life is going to hand you and that you choose as well.
