With only 8k miles a year for the job, that's a no brainer to keep your car. I did excruciating math when I was in that one job where my car would have to be 5 years or less and was driving 25k miles a year. I bought a new Subaru Legacy GT for $27k miles in 2008 and figured out that it was paid for in just under 3 years completely including all gas, insurance, taxes, maintenance, tires, everything. Beyond that point, it was all profit. And I considered it to be a car I would not own if not buying it for work. If you would have owned your current car regardless, you're making bank big time. Especially at 8k miles.
