My parents lived in Holly Springs for years ('burb of Raliegh). It's basically deep south climate, no thank you. I drip sweat just weeding in their garden for 5 minutes.
If you want southern California climate and want to stay in the USA, then you need to prepare for big boy (or girl) housing and the associated cost of living costs. Be prepared to pay to play.
