Can I buy 100 shares of vti or a treasury bond in my CMA account?
Yes. I keep spending money in the CMA, not long-term money. CMA is more prone to fraudulent use of debit card and/or checks.

No way I'm having a debit card or check writing associated with my primary brokerage account.
Why not? I do both. It’s not like fidelity would automaically sell your stocks and bonds to pay a fraudulent check or ATM withdrawal.
