You have options. You can take it as unpaid time. You can see about a switch to part time (3 days a week, 20-30 hours). You can negotiate for more time off.That is hard, as it is a FTE, still have the do the 40 hours worth of work in 3 days...If you can go out now, why not ask if the company will let you work 3 days a week starting in a year?

If you go part time you might lose benefits but since you are already considering quitting that shouldn't be a show stopper.
