From reading your posts, I am sensing that you're almost in a state of disbelief that nothing associated with room and board is going to be covered unless your loved one is on Medicaid. But it's true. In contrast, Medicare provides the hospice services, you provide the home, independent living assisted living, or nursing home care. Of course, that's not to say you might not transition into hospice during a period of time where your parent has been admitted to a nursing home under the allowed number of days within Medicare.online im seeing Medicare does not cover room and board at home:
When receiving hospice care at home, Medicare only covers the medical services provided by the hospice team, not the cost of living in your house.
so if we own the house will we pay out of pocket for care? mom is 89 with dementia and getting worse each week
This is a huge problem we have in this country. My DH has a neurodegenerative disease and the end of life care will probably be extremely expensive for years.
