It is a difference of slightly over $100/yr on an emergency fund holding $30K. If an emergency fund is normally just left alone, it is easy enough to open a separate account for it. If that is not worth the extra interest earned to you, that's fine, but that extra cost should be mentioned as a caveat when recommending the fund to others, who may not even have an account at Fidelity currently.
Why pay an ER of .42% when the Vanguard Treasury MMF VUSXX has an ER of .07%? The SEC yields also generally reflect that spread.
- It is my emergency/short term fund, so the quantities involved don't stress me at all.
- I don't use Vanguard
