Yeah, I realize that. It is one reason why I expected my numbers to be lower. And I'm not unfamiliar with low cost of living. My wife came from a very low family income and for nearly a year lived in their neighborhood which made me rethink some things. I was just surprised at some of the "fixed" costs, especially health insurance (for years I was single but the costs for 2 people is about the same as the family plan for our insurance).That's more than many family/household incomes in the US. Location is certainly one factor in the variance, but there are plenty of poor people in HCOL areas, too. People with lower income have a different standard of living than you do. A couple might share a small studio apartment, for example, and live in a neighborhood that some would think is undesirable.Seems hard to believe a couple can have expenses under $50K or $60K.
I also try to put in the budget prorated estimated expenses for house repairs and car repairs since those are obviously irregular but often large expenses.
