There probably isn't an objectively "best" calculator - what is easiest for one person may differ from another person.Thanks everyone.
I have used a lot of the calculators - but I find it challenging when considering 1 W2 income and 1 1099. The self employment taxes, etc seem to muddy it enough where the calculators I have used focus on one or the other.
I have used them inputing both as W2 salaries, but that ignores the self employment taxes. Wasn't sure if there was an easy way to visualize this mixed picture when both aren't the same person.
Having said that, the personal finance toolbox Excel spreadsheet requires only that you enter on the Calculations tab:
Filing status in G2
W-2 box 1 income in B3 or C3
1099-NEC income in B30 or C30
State postal abbrev. in H38
You can add more details as needed, but the entries above may be sufficient.
