Without running many of the variables that may concern you there remains one question.
Why do you believe erring on the side of not paying early is the speculative and/or riskier path?
No, you have reversed my view. As a general principle, I don't pay taxes early. So to do so, for example in Roth conversions, I need a compelling reason to go against principle. I will not debate this further with you, I understand you have strong believe in the calculations, and that is fine.
It is not about the calculators - it is about the timing and knowledge for making a reasonable choice.
What variable(s) are your attemting to assess and what method do you use to assess them?
