Some people like having a new car every few years with no ownership headaches, and are willing to pay for it.
Indeed, and some people do that by buying 2-3 year old used cars (like lease returns) and selling them a few years later.

A friend just bought a 18 month old EV from Hertz, 40% of MSRP out the door, after rebates. 11k miles.
