Fortune favoured appears to have confused "DC" (charging) with "District of Columbia"?I most definitely did not miss the "in California" part, as I am in California.
You must have missed the "in California" part. Residential electricity rates have doubled in the past ~5 years, and several industry insiders say the march to $1/kwh is inevitable - more rate increases have already been filed after the 4 they approved this year. My spreadsheet says I'm averaging 55 cents/kwh all-in with fees and taxes.
Here's my parents' rate plan with SCE, 23 cents per KWhr except during the peak hours of 4-9 pm (which is easy to avoid by programming the EV charging times). And no, rates have not doubled over the past 5 years, not remotely close.
The ChargePoint stalls in my apartment building, also in SoCal, cost 30 cents per KWhr, here's my charging session yesterday. And yet I keep seeing more EVs. But what do I know, being actually in California?Nobody (in PG&E/SDGE/SCE served areas) is buying a new electric car in CA for economics unless they get much cheaper or gasoline gets much more penalized.
