This is more general travel advice, but we travel with a four port USB hub to charge devices (phones, tablets, etc), as outlets in older hotels may be few and far between, easier to find one outlet with one adapter.
If you’re driving in Italy (didn’t sound like it, but if you do), for driving, google “Italian toll roads” or “autostrade”, they can be confusing the first time.
For phone plans, we use ATT and just pay the $10 a day fee for international roaming.
