That is so smart! Never though of Tension Rod. It is about 30 feet wide. I wonder if I should do one across all windows vs. 3 separate ones.Just closed on a house.
Few issues I have
1) Approx 21 foot ceiling with large windows. What would be the best way to block it for privacy?
2) 2nd floor rooms do not have curtains/blinds. What would be the best course? Is it an easy DYI? Or is it better to get a handyman?
3) Outdoor cam and floodlight. Id preferably do hard wired vs. solar powered. What would be the best way to plug indoor and have the wire go outside without leaving the window open?
The fastest way to get curtains up (or even sheets!) is with tension rods. Nothing needs to be nailed in; nothing is attached.
They are spring-loaded and you get them sized by the window width.
Then you can get very cheap curtains (online) to get *something* up for privacy.
The quickest thing would be to just fold sheets over the rods for privacy.
Later, as you are settling in, and have a bit of money for nicer things, you could get prettier curtains or even permanent rods for them. Or blinds.
21 foot ceilings! How easy (or not) will it be to heat that?
Wait... you were concerned about *fortifying" your house. How do huge - really huge - windows work for that?
A kick-proof bolt on the front door won't matter.

The windows are about 7 feet off from the ground so I am not too worried but the deck with stairs still bother me.
