Thanks for directing me to this thread. I will probably adjust my approach and just do the conversions in Q1 and/or make sure to qualify for safe harbor.
Why not just make the Q1-Q3 estimated payments based on the expected conversion but still do all or part of the conversion in Q4? If the actual amount converted turns out to differ from your original estimate, you can always change or even eliminate a Q4 payment.
