Personal Investments • Re: Merrill vs UBS vs Schwab Roth IRA

UBS doesn't make much sense to me, and whenever you leave your current employment, you almost certainly will want to shift your 401k from them to your new employer.

I think if you can get up to preferred rewards with BOA/ME in the near-ish future, then opening your Roth IRA @ ME seems very reasonable. BOA is likely to have more fees than Schwab or Fidelity until you get into the Preferred Rewards program. Since you probably are already used to paying those fees @ BOA, it's probably not a big deal, but if you think it might take a decade or more to get enough assets, then it's almost certainly not worth it and I'd definitely recommend moving everything to Schwab or Fidelity instead.

Otherwise, Schwab or Fidelity are very valid choices.

See the BOA/ME preferred rewards thread here: viewtopic.php?t=150033

Schwab one stop thread: viewtopic.php?t=287311

Fidelity one stop thread: viewtopic.php?t=266538

Any of these are fine, but BOA/ME really only makes sense if you can get into fee free preferred rewards tiers.
