Personal Consumer Issues • Re: Solar in MA - realistic coverage expectations?

Correct - it can be used against future electricity use, but will not be refunded.

I don't mind generating excess now since at some point we are going to get an electric vehicle and a heat pump, so that will likely use up all of the excess and a little more.
A year later ... did you get the electric vehicle and heat pump?

I already got the heat pumps two years ago. I had originally been sizing my future solar installation (also in Massachusetts) for an EV but now I'm reconsidering if one is appropriate for me given that I only drive 4,000 miles a year and I may still be driving my current car for another 5 to 8 more years.
Not yet. Waiting for my current A/C to fail or need major maintenance to replace with a heat pump. Similar story for the EV - waiting for my current gasoline-powered vehicle to need some major maintenance before upgrading to an EV.
How many excess kWh's are you at right now?
