The focus demographic according to the CEO on recent business show (this week after earnings report) was the “millennials” who “value” the added benefits and prestige.
I have considered the platinum as I travel and fly over 100k miles annually and at least 6 flights a month. However found greatest value in having an airline credit card with a much lower fee. I get the airline lounge, clear, and “triple” miles at 1/3 the cost of the platinum with zero effort. Based in Seattle so my Alaska card for travel is sufficient. Don’t need the hassle of the platinum coupon book style in order to try to justify the annual fee. Full disclosure I’m not a millennial and thus don’t need the “prestige” of having the platinum card. That was a laughable statement and thus marketing is the driver.
