Is this the S-VCM selling for around 90 dollars????I'm Tubes, but Loads works too.2010 Odyssey with about 210k miles that I have owned from new. I had three issues while on long drives (7+ hours) where my plugs (1 and or 2) became fouled and I was hours from home dealing with a car that was badly misfiring. The plugs in the inactive cylinder would become fouled with oil. I'm a slow learner, so after the third time I installed the VCMTUNERII at about 160k miles and have not had a problem since. It was an easy install and I have not noticed a MPG change - but with 200k miles it'd be hard to attribute a MPG change to any one thing! I also have the bad Cat issue that Loads mentions.
Normchad, the VMCTUNERII I use is inserted in-between the engine temp plug and the computer. It spoofs a temp that indicates that the engine is still below operating temp since the VCM on my van apparently will not activate until normal op temp is reached. In theory they advertise that an actual overtemp situation would pass through. Fortunately, I have not had an overtemp so I can't vouch for that!
I have installed the regular VCMTUNER. This is a simple variable resistor with no active elements. The VCMTUNER II is more sophisticated but in short supply since the guy making them is a 1 man factory.
I find the regular VCMTUNER works well. I know what kind of lower deflection it has created with my temperature gauge. I watch it very carefully so I can catch any pending overheating. With this in mind, it works very well.
thanks
