MnD is the name of the poster being replied to. I assume DnM is to represent the person out there with the opposite experience to MnD.Very poignant.BH is over-represented with successful retires. Beware the bias, since for every MnD there is a DnM in another forum for whom illness, injury, or loss of job, now regrets their earlier approach. OP has baked in a presumption that his last 5 years will continue another 30.We never budgeted.
When working we paid ourselves first in the forms of savings we needed to retire in our mid-50's and spent the rest like drunken sailors.
Now in retirement and still not budgeting.
Our spending is driven by reliable income from safe sources and a sustainable withdrawal rate from portfolio.
We never did buy stupid stuff and I don't expect that to change.
Maybe
Nice.
What is "MnD and DnM"??
