Hi OP
It’s important to know which type of rehab your spouse is going to , an inpatient rehab facility /acute rehab(IRF) vs skilled nursing rehab e.g nursing home type (SNF) as they bill differently under Medicare. There shouldn’t be any contracts/ or financial
disclosures at this time, because will qualify her care under skilled need if it’s short term.
If she exceeds the short term benefits and needs more longer term care then you may need to contact an estate attorney for longer term coverage like Medicaid (unless you have long term care insurance). The estate attorney can guide you through the process of spend down and asset protections available if it comes to that.
Regarding care, you do have choices in choosing a facility that best meets her needs. The hospital case manager should have gone over choices with you, and I recommend touring, educating yourself on facilities and build relationships with the staff there. Communication can go a long way on expectations of care.
I wish her a speedy recovery and sorry you are going through this.
