While you didn't provide details about your home configuration, I'll say that in my experience the vast majority of people who have performance issues actually have issues with their local wifi, not with the upstream provider.
I can't say if this is you or not, just speaking in generality.
To rule this in or out, you could plug in (ethernet) instead of wifi when you do the test, and perhaps even upgrade home wifi equipment to something high end if this matters a ton to you.
I am a software engineer who works on this sort of stuff for a living and even I under-estimated how much local equipment impacted my performance. When I bought good stuff it made a material difference.
While this isn't what you asked, I would also add that speed is only one variable. The others of note are latency, packet loss and jitter. And again higher end networking equipment can make a material difference here.
For me personally, while I got more throughput when I got better equipment, I didn't notice that in practice. But I sure as heck noticed the jitter / packet loss difference. I went from dropping a few video calls a week to dropping none.
