This is fun to think about.. It seems quite inefficient to use the word frugal, when we could just say we are "being efficient". An added complexity is that the latin origin goes back to frūgālis "Of or belonging to fruits"... Some random musings from the web make me a believer that frugal comes from idea that it describes someone who enjoys restraining themselves from eating fruit. Overall, I don't think being "frugal" has anything to do with utilizing or being effective. That word goes back to efficio. Being effective / efficient. Someone can be frugal and still be inefficient if they spend little and do nothing.Being frugal is to utilize financial resources efficiently and effectively with little or no waste.
