Facts show that many states will recognize your right to register to vote in their state based on your parents' previous domicile.

California
A U.S. citizen who has never resided in the U.S., who has not previously registered to vote in another state, and whose parent or legal guardian was a California resident when they were last living in the U.S., is eligible to vote in California.

Virginia
A U.S. citizen who has never resided in the U.S. and has a parent or legal guardian that was last domiciled in Virginia is eligible to vote in Virginia as long as he or she has not registered or voted in another state.
Great! So a state says someone who has never set foot in the state and has no intention of ever setting foot in the state can vote there and then what, that makes them a tax resident? I'll say it again, absurd! And while they're at it, they could just as easily claim that every U.S. citizen, heck, every person in the world is a tax resident of their state and owes them taxes even though they've never set foot in the state. Equally absurd!

Anyway, I think this has run its course so I'm out of this.
