Great post from Watty above.
Being a few years older than OP (self and kids), I’ll say we inflated our budget and spent it on travel mostly these past few years.
I’m looking forward to our budget declining now, not increasing.
1. Last year of private school for our youngest
2. We may not have a big trip planned for a couple of years. Likely more local.
3. We didn’t change house or cars. So our ‘level’ for those has stayed the same.
I’m trying to convince my DW we can be done soon, if we are a tad more careful. She is more frugal than me, except when it comes to trip planning!
This year or next year could be the peak for me re: spending.
I’d love to hear if others found their peak spending years and actually saw a decline when kids are close to their twenties?
