Investing - Theory, News & General • Re: The Final, Definitive Thread on Brokerage Transfer Bonuses

Planning where I could park $500k when TT matures 5/1, then HSBC 5/31. Unfortunately, can't do the Wells as my last term ended 1/24. Looking at the Citi, despite all the warnings here that Citi is a PITA.

Anyhow, DOC reads that self directed is okay. However, the fine print under "eligible and ineligible accounts... accounts not eligible for this promotion" are:
*Citi Wealth Builder and Citi Self Invest Accounts
https://banking.citi.com/cbol/investmen ... 96603D3D04

Therefore, the question: can one actually do this bonus with self-directed?

The CIti CPWM was fairly easy for me. i documented my experience pretty thoroughly on the DoC page.
Good stuff. Thanks, TJ.

Then perhaps I’m having a brain fart. Is it Citi or is it Chase that have the bad rap per this thread?
It probably was the Citi. I would imagine that most people don't want to deal with phone calls and follow up phone calls and emails to open a brokerage account.
