Seems you would be a good candidate for law school. I've replaced light switches and outlets and they are not hard to do. You can probably look up on youtube. When my ceiling fan busted I hired an electrician that advertises in my church bulletin. He charged a reasonable price and I haven't had any problems with it. I am at the stage in my life where I hire contractors to do most things so I don't have to hassle with it. If it was me I would just hire an electrician.
