I’m thinking of someone who would do both Roth 401k and MBR after-tax conversions

The reason why you would only do regular contributions is it’s simpler than doing after tax conversions
That makes sense. Thanks. In my plan, automatic in plan Roth rollovers are allowed and very easy to set up. In service rollovers to an external IRA are not permitted. If someone only had that option, I get that it would be more complex. And, I suppose, reading about after-tax and clicking the extra buttons for automatic in plan rollover is more work as well.
